. | Prime Recognition's "Voting" OCR Engine is Added to Wheb Systems' Forms Processing System San Carlos -- August 15, 1995 -- Prime Recognition today announced it participation as a member of Wheb Systems, Inc. Strategic Partner Program, which involves the inclusion of Prime Recognition's PrimeOCR "voting" engine in Wheb's Intelligent Forms Processing System (IFPS). The new engine was integrated with IFPS to assist Wheb in obtaining the highest level of print-recognition accuracy available, according to Kenn Dahl, President of Prime Recognition. Higher Accuracy Through PrimeOCR's "Voting" Technology Developed for the production OCR marketplace, PrimeOCR is a Windows 3.1X based software OCR engine and Application Programming Interface (API) toolkit. Combining proprietary voting algorithms and sophisticated recognition technology with software licensed from the best retail OCR vendors, PrimeOCR is able to reduce OCR errors by an average of 65% over conventional OCR products. This reduces the cost of manual error correction by 65%, which often accounts for over 50% of the total annual imaging system cost. PrimeOCR also marks a higher percentage of recognition errors than conventional OCR products. This, combined with PrimeOCR's higher accuracy, results in 70-75% fewer errors left in the final document after manual error correction. And, since PrimeOCR provides better accuracy on lower quality images, end-users can now cost-effectively scan and apply OCR to many of those images that used to be keyed in by hand. PrimeOCR also has upgrade options that provide 75% and 80% higher accuracy. "From the very beginning, the IFPS product has been shown to boost data entry productivity by up to 400 percent," stated Jim Woodruff, Wheb's vice president of marketing. "Higher OCR accuracy means fewer manual error corrections for our customers, and that translates into immediate cost-of-labor savings. That's what our business is all about, and that's why we're always looking for ways to improve accuracy at even higher levels. We're confident that PrimeOCR technology will help us do that," Woodruff said. "Wheb is a recognized leader in high-end, production oriented forms processing environments," says Kenn Dahl, President of Prime Recognition. "In that PrimeOCR was designed for both "full text" and "forms" based OCR, we are very pleased to announce its support from an industry leader such as Wheb. And, since forms-based applications require extremely high data accuracy, PrimeOCR's superior data accuracy and substantially lower substitution rate will be well received by Wheb customers." Prime Recognition, Inc. Prime Recognition designs and develops advanced character recognition software for the production OCR marketplace. Prime Recognition's goal is to facilitate the acceptance of OCR by reducing errors through the use of sophisticated "Voting" technology.
