Prime Recognition Announces PrimeOCR Version 3.8

San Carlos, CA - Today Prime Recognition announced the availability of PrimeOCR version 3.8. The latest release of Prime Recognition’s “Voting” OCR technology increases OCR accuracy and provides the capability to process color images.

Improvements to PrimeOCR version 3.8 include:

  • Increased OCR accuracy - Keeping up to date with the latest OCR technology, PrimeOCR improves OCR accuracy by updating its internal voting OCR engines.  The latest release of the sixth OCR voting engine significantly decreases the number of errors and contributes to the overall accuracy of PrimeOCR's voting technology.

  • Support for color images - PrimeOCR can now provide the same high accuracy OCR results from color or grayscale images as well as traditional black and white scanned images.  All output formats are supported including color/grayscale results in RTF, HTML and PDF.  Compression options are available that reduce file sizes without compromising image quality.

  • Support for Windows 2000 - The latest release of PrimeOCR has been designed to support the latest release of the Windows operating system software.  Designed to take advantage of Windows's advanced features, PrimeOCR provides world class reliability for high volume processing in production facilities.

  • 32-bit updates to PrimeView and PrimeVerify - Both PrimeView and PrimeVerify have been updated to 32-bit code.  Both applications now support long filenames and can load/view color and grayscale images.

  • PDF output updates - PrimeOCR has been updated to include the ability to generate color PDF output and implements the latest PDF specification.

  • InputAccel updates - The InputAccel modules of PrimeOCR, PrimeVerify, PrimeZone and PrimePost have been updated to include all of the version 3.8 features including the ability to process color/grayscale images.

Higher OCR Accuracy through “Voting” Technology

Developed for the production OCR marketplace, PrimeOCR is an “omnifont” Windows™ NT/2000/XP based software OCR engine and Application Programming Interface (API) toolkit. Using a combination of proprietary “Voting” algorithms and technology licensed from the best retail OCR vendors.

PrimeOCR is able to reduce OCR errors by an average of 65-82% over the best conventional OCR products while providing much cleaner data by implementing "Voting" technology.  Since manual error correction can account for over 50% of an imaging system cost, by lowering error rates, PrimeOCR can reduce annual operating costs by 35%.

Designed around a fault tolerant architecture, PrimeOCR provides the production OCR marketplace with a reliable OCR processing solution that generates cleaner results than conventional OCR systems.
