Prime Recognition Announces PrimeOCR Version 3.0

Feb 16, 1998 - San Carlos, CA - Prime Recognition announced today the availability of PrimeOCR version 3.0. This latest release of Prime Recognition’s “Voting” OCR technology increases OCR accuracy and supports all three PDF format types for production imaging environments.

New PrimeOCR version 3.0 features:

• Improved OCR accuracy - Two of the five OCR engines, used by PrimeOCR's "Voting" technology, have been updated to their latest releases.  These updates provide for an average extra 8% improvement in accuracy.

• PDF Output - Making it easier to transition image and OCR results to the web, and in support of the portable document format, PrimeOCR now supports all three PDF file formats, PDF Normal, PDF Image plus Hidden Text, and PDF Image Only.

• InputAccel Module supports PDF - InputAccel users that depend on PrimeOCR for dependable, production grade OCR software as an InputAccel module can now get the same high accuracy results from PrimeOCR in all three PDF format types, PDF Normal, PDF Image plus Hidden Text or PDF Image Only.

In addition, Prime Recognition’s graphical interface to PrimeOCR for end-users, PrimeProof, has been upgraded to support all of the PrimeOCR version 3.0 features. The ZyIndex output format has been added to PrimeVerify, letting users take advantage of this file format after verification of OCR results.

New capabilities have also been added to PrimeZone to support PDF Image Only file format.  By using PrimeZone's batch processing functionality, users can now convert images to PDF Image Only in under 0.5 sec/image.  Other image processing available within PrimeZone include deskew, despeckle, and desampling, among others.

Both PrimeZone and PrimePost have been upgraded to include a new easier to use graphical user interface that provides useful batch statistics detailing images to process, images completed and time to completion.  The latest changes provide additional information to users allowing them to manage conversion jobs and improve overall operational efficiency.

Higher OCR Accuracy through “Voting” Technology

Developed for the production OCR marketplace, PrimeOCR is an “omnifont” Windows™ NT/2000/XP based software OCR engine and Application Programming Interface (API) toolkit.
